2/20/2023 0 Comments Wyze security cameraI only recommend Wyze v3 cameras from them though. Ring has the best battery cameras out of the 3 and has solar options if you cannot wire the cameras Home monitoring is cheap at $100 a year and includes all your cameras. Ring has the best alarm system hands down. Why? Because not one company covers all my needs (except Nest is coming close with their new floodlight and battery cameras). TLDR: Wyze ins't a security camera, get a NVR over cloud to save $$, invest in quality up front. They are working on vacuums, rc cars, ect they are not focuses on the security side. Look at the feature request for the cameras made and they have done nothing, so many people want a web browser or rtsp and nope. Until wyze actually starts stepping up and putting quality and investing in their products its a nope for me. Look at this subreddit and how many people complaining about cloud saves gone, or camera corruption, or there support being trash. Because when your cloud save file go missing of someone vandalizing your property or you check and nothing was capture, you will throw out this product and buy the quality stuff anyways. My main opinion is why was $700 on cheap wyze products to protect your house for you to eventually spend a few extra on quality products. If you want great quality look at ubiquity these are great camera and software. I hate cloud storage so I have a synology that is running surveillance station (Version 8 should be coming out soon.) I aslo bought several of their POE (great feature) and ran from a swith ethernet to power them. Also the base station you can plug in a flash drive and capture all the data on there (saved me capturing someone crashing into my property) My favorite out of the bunch is REOLINK, I have a argus 2 with a solar panel and it does great. I have had Arlo cameras they are okay you can find them on sale every now and then and I like the fact you can pull up the website on your computer and monitor the cameras. They to me are a nice camera to have to check in on somthing like a pet, not to monitor your security.Ĭost shouldn't be an issue when it comes to security, it may be a factor but I fell reliability is most important. I would not trust wyze to capture something of importance. They are also focusing less and less on the cameras hence why every update you see people on here posting like crazy how everything is broken. The main reason why is Wyze still feels in the beta stage of thing. Wyze to me isn't a home security system if that the main thing you are looking for. The main question is what is your main use and feature you are looking for. My key takeaway - Wyze Cam V3 is a great option for a camera at its price, everything else needs work. I might ask the same question in other subreddits now. I am quite surprised about many of the responses, but all the advice is helpful. If you were starting from scratch, would you go wyze?ĭo you use a mix of brands for your locks, cams, security? If so, which ones?ĭo you have any advice for someone just getting started?Įdit: Thanks everyone. I am also looking at offerings from Ring ($$), Eufy ($), Blink ($), Nest ($$$), & Arlo ($$$). Home Monitoring is $60/yr, Cam Plus would be $90/year. Wyze Home Monitoring starter kit + extra sensorsĬompared to others, my upfront costs seem to be the lowest with wyze, long term costs seem to be comparable or cheaper to some other services. I already have a good smart lighting system - so I am mainly looking at the following: I am buying my first home and I am looking at buying a suite of cameras and security devices.
